Separate a habit from a fixed identity
A useful lunar question is, ‘What do I do when I need to feel settled?’ Look for an actual pattern: preparing food, calling someone, withdrawing briefly or returning to a familiar routine. A chart can supply a reflection prompt, but the observed habit comes from your experience. Do not infer another person's needs from their Moon sign alone.
Traditional Western astrology places the Moon's domicile in Cancer and exaltation in Taurus. Those technical terms describe an interpretive scheme. They do not establish that one Moon sign experiences more emotion or has a healthier family life than another.
The Moon is especially sensitive to the chosen instant
The Moon often travels roughly 12–15° per day, with changing speed. Even when uncertainty leaves its sign unchanged, its degree and aspect orbs can differ. If it crosses a sign boundary within the possible birth-time range, keep both possibilities instead of selecting whichever interpretation sounds more familiar.
Sky Degrees uses geocentric positions. A topocentric calculation, measured from a surface observer, is a different convention and can differ noticeably for the nearby Moon. Match the time, zodiac and observer convention before treating a discrepancy between tools as an error.
Add houses only when the birth time supports them
The Moon's house connects its symbolism to a life topic; it is not a second name for the Moon's sign. A Moon in the fourth house and a Moon in Cancer are different statements. The birth calculator currently requires a time, so an unknown time does not produce a verified personal house placement simply by entering noon.

Reproduce a five-hour Moon comparison
In the historical example linked below, the tropical geocentric Moon on 15 July 2024 is 220.126488° at 11:00 UTC and 222.669069° at 16:00 UTC. Subtraction gives 2.542581° of movement. Both positions are in Scorpio, but the degrees differ by more than 2.5°.
Open Daily ephemeris for July 2024. Compare Europe/London at 12:00 with America/New_York at 12:00 on 15 July, then set London to 17:00. London 17:00 and New York 12:00 represent the same instant that day. These are fixed historical calculations, not today's sky.

Can I know my Moon sign without a birth time?
Sometimes it stays in one sign throughout the possible interval, and sometimes it changes. Check that entire interval before making a claim; the Moon's houses and angles remain uncertain.
Calculation & interpretation
New personal calculations use Skyfield with JPL DE440 data and the site’s documented house and zodiac rules. The preserved Greenwich teaching chart has its own historical source label. Worked arithmetic and geometry examples are labelled separately. Astrological meanings are symbolic conventions, not established scientific predictions.
Birth time and place affect angles and houses. Unsupported or ambiguous inputs return an error rather than an invented chart. Personal results stay in browser state and do not create public result URLs.
