THE SKY DEGREES REFERENCE

Sun sextile Moon in a birth chart

A natal Sun–Moon sextile connects the symbolic direction of the Sun with the Moon's habits and needs. The 60° link suggests a question about coordination, not a promise of inner harmony.

What these two chart factors connect

What a person aims to build may fit some of the routines that keep them steady. A sextile still asks for an active choice: a schedule that leaves room for rest, for example, is more informative than a claim that motivation and emotion automatically agree.

This is one person's natal aspect. Check Sun's and Moon's signs and houses separately before combining their symbolism. A sign pair alone does not establish an aspect, and the same two planets can raise different life questions in different houses.

Check the measured relationship

The exact sextile angle is 60°. Sky Degrees compares the two actual longitudes using their shortest distance around the zodiac, then reports the deviation as orb. This pair appears only when that orb is within the sum of the selected planetary half-orbs.

Changing orb settings can add or remove a displayed aspect without moving either planet. Applying or separating is an estimate from stored speeds, not an exact event-time prediction. Read the calculation source and birth instant beside your own result.

One practical question

Compare a goal you chose with one ordinary week. Which habit helps the goal, and which necessary form of care has been left out of the plan?

This aspect does not prove happiness or describe someone's parents. A Moon degree can move appreciably when the recorded birth time is uncertain, so check the input before a close-orb claim.

A CONCRETE EXAMPLE

The preserved Sun sextile Moon example

The fixed teaching chart at 2000-01-01T12:00:00+00:00 lists Sun at 10°22′ Capricorn (280.368923°) and Moon at 13°19′ Scorpio (223.323800°). Its sextile has an orb of 2.955° against an allowed 13.5° in the sample's stored settings.

This preserved example carries its original Swiss Ephemeris 2.10.03 source; it is not a new Skyfield calculation or a real person's biography. New personal calculations use the site's Skyfield/JPL service. The measured angle verifies geometry, not the symbolic interpretation.

Common questions

Does Sun sextile Moon always appear with these signs?

No. Measure the two longitudes and compare the deviation with the configured allowed orb. A sign pair is only a rough clue.

Is this a synastry or transit reading?

No. Both bodies are from one natal chart at one recorded birth instant. Comparing two people or searching future event times requires a different calculation.

Calculation & interpretation

New personal calculations use Skyfield with JPL DE440 data and the site’s documented house and zodiac rules. The preserved Greenwich teaching chart has its own historical source label. Synthetic chart examples use explicitly invented inputs and actual calculations; no real person or biography is attached. Dated historical sky examples can be reproduced using the stated UTC sample; they are not personal birth records or evidence for symbolic interpretations. Worked arithmetic and geometry examples are labelled separately. Astrological meanings are symbolic conventions, not established scientific predictions.

Birth time and place affect angles and houses. Unsupported or ambiguous inputs return an error rather than an invented chart. Personal results stay in browser state and do not create public result URLs.
