What Virgo describes
Mercury in Virgo is Mercury in a traditional domicile; a Virgo Moon can ask what daily routines support a need. Neither placement puts a body in the sixth house by default. Houses depend on the birth time, place and selected division method.
In this traditional Western vocabulary, Virgo is mutable earth, traditionally ruled by Mercury. Its opposite sign is Pisces; that names the other end of a zodiac axis, not an enemy or a prediction about relationships. A sign describes a 30° sector. The planet or angle occupying it tells you which chart question you are reading.
Locate the degree before choosing a meaning
Virgo begins at 150° of zodiac longitude and ends just before 180°. Subtract 150° from a tropical longitude in that interval to find its degree within the sign. A sidereal calculation may assign another sign because it uses a different reference origin; keep the zodiac setting with the result.
A Sun sign is the Sun's measured position, a Moon sign is the Moon's measured position, and the rising sign contains the true Ascendant on the local eastern horizon. The Ascendant needs a recorded birth time and place. None of these labels can supply the others, and a sign is not automatically the house with the same number.
Try revision in service of a purpose as a question
Pick one draft or routine. Name its purpose, the one defect that most affects that purpose and the check that would confirm an improvement. Stop revising when the check passes or the cost exceeds the benefit.
A sign cannot establish anxiety, compulsion or a fixed standard. Compare the person's real priorities and the cost of a revision before describing their behavior.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE
Mercury in Virgo: a dated coordinate check
At 12:00 UTC on 2024-09-18, the production Skyfield/JPL DE440 historical ephemeris placed Mercury at 15°30′ Virgo (165.496712° tropical geocentric longitude). Subtracting 150° gives 15.496712° inside Virgo. This position is drawn from the site's independently checked historical placement dataset.
Mercury is the traditional ruler of Virgo; finding it in its own sign in this dated sample illustrates the conventional domicile relation. It is a sky position, not a person's birth chart, behavior or proof of the symbolic reading. The example does not give a house or a local horizon position.
Reproduce the coordinate in Daily ephemeris by selecting 2024-09, UTC, 12:00 and the tropical zodiac, then find Mercury on 2024-09-18. These are manual settings; the link does not alter saved preferences. A daily sample does not determine the exact moment the body entered the sign.
Read it in your own chart.

Calculate your actual chartCommon questions
Does Virgo make someone perfectionist?
A sign cannot establish anxiety, compulsion or a fixed standard. Compare the person's real priorities and the cost of a revision before describing their behavior.
Is Virgo Rising the same as Virgo Sun?
No. The Sun is a planetary position; the Ascendant is a local horizon angle. Calculate both using your actual birth details, then read their distinct roles.
Calculation & interpretation
New personal calculations use Skyfield with JPL DE440 data and the site’s documented house and zodiac rules. The preserved Greenwich teaching chart has its own historical source label. Synthetic chart examples use explicitly invented inputs and actual calculations; no real person or biography is attached. Dated historical sky examples can be reproduced using the stated UTC sample; they are not personal birth records or evidence for symbolic interpretations. Worked arithmetic and geometry examples are labelled separately. Astrological meanings are symbolic conventions, not established scientific predictions.
Birth time and place affect angles and houses. Unsupported or ambiguous inputs return an error rather than an invented chart. Personal results stay in browser state and do not create public result URLs.
