Define useful before refining
A correction can make a piece of work clearer, safer or easier to use. It can also consume time without changing the outcome. Begin with the person or task the work serves. An accurate label may matter more than perfectly aligned notes, depending on what someone needs to do next.
Take a routine you want to improve. State the problem in one sentence, change one step and compare the result. If you cannot identify what became easier, the change may be cosmetic. This is an experiment in practical judgment, not proof that a Virgo Sun must love organization.
Choose a stopping rule
Before revising, decide what would count as ready: the calculation checks out, a reader can follow the instructions, or the required sections are present. A stopping rule lets care produce a finished contribution. It also creates room to learn from use instead of trying to predict every possible criticism.
Distinguish an observation about the work from a judgment about the person. ‘This explanation is missing a step’ can be acted on. ‘I should never make mistakes’ cannot. A sign cannot diagnose anxiety, compulsive behavior or a medical condition.
Read Mercury without merging its dignities with the Sun's
Mercury rules Virgo and is the Sun's dispositor here. Virgo is Mercury's traditional domicile and exaltation, but that does not make a Virgo Sun itself domiciled or exalted. Technical conditions belong to the body being assessed. Inspect the actual Mercury placement rather than transferring its categories to the Sun.
Virgo Sun dates in popular lists are approximate. Near a boundary, retain the birth year, recorded time, zone and zodiac. Changing a house system does not independently change the Sun's zodiac longitude.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE
Sun in Virgo: a historical sky example
On 2024-09-07 at 12:00 UTC, the tropical geocentric Sun was at 15°21′ Virgo (165.356386° zodiac longitude). This is a historical sky calculation using Skyfield 1.55 and JPL DE440, not a personal birth chart or a record of someone’s behavior.
Virgo spans 150° up to, but not including, 180° in the tropical zodiac. Subtracting 150° from this longitude gives 15.356386° within Virgo. At this sample Sun was direct, with longitude changing at 0.970843° per day. A daily sample does not identify an exact sign-entry or station time.
To reproduce it, open Daily ephemeris and select 2024-09. In Calculation settings, set the time zone to UTC, daily time to 12:00 and zodiac to Tropical, then read Sun on 2024-09-07. These controls must be set manually; the link does not change your saved preferences. The calculation checks the placement, not the symbolic interpretation.

Do Virgo Suns have to be tidy?
No. Tidiness is a behavior influenced by circumstances and preferences. Discernment can appear in many forms, and a broad interpretation should be checked against life rather than treated as a rule.
Is Virgo the Sun's exaltation?
No. The traditional exaltation of the Sun is Aries. Mercury's associations with Virgo do not transfer to a Sun placed in that sign.
