Responsibility is broader than a job title
A public role might involve leading a project, caring for a community space or representing an organization. Begin with what other people rely on you to do. This gives a tenth-house reflection a concrete subject without assuming everyone pursues a conventional career ladder.
Compare that role with sixth-house daily tasks and second-house resources. Recognition, workflow and income are separate questions even when they arise in the same job. A planet in the tenth does not identify a profession, promise fame or show whether a person is fairly compensated.
The MC and house ten need separate labels
The Midheaven, or MC, is an ecliptic-meridian angle calculated from the local geometry. Whole sign and equal house systems define the tenth house by their own counting or 30° steps. The MC can therefore occupy a different house or a different point within a house.
An angular house classification is also different from a close conjunction to the MC. To assess proximity, compare actual longitudes. A planet may be in the tenth house yet several degrees from that angle; a label alone cannot tell you how close it is.
Compare methods before interpreting a career change
If switching house systems moves a planet out of the tenth, the astronomical planet has not changed. The reading framework has. Preserve the birth time, location and house method with your notes. An unknown birth time cannot establish a precise personal MC or a trustworthy tenth-house placement.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE
Worked arithmetic example: whole sign tenth, equal ninth
Start an invented comparison with an Ascendant of 14° Leo, longitude 134°. Whole sign assigns Taurus, from 30° to 60°, to house ten. A Saturn position of 40°, or 10° Taurus, is therefore tenth-house.
Equal houses put the tenth cusp at (134° + 270°) modulo 360° = 44°, or 14° Taurus. The same Saturn at 40° is before that cusp and belongs to house nine. Neither operation has calculated the MC; retain the true angle separately from both house labels.

Is the Midheaven always my tenth-house cusp?
No. It often serves as that cusp in familiar quadrant settings, but whole sign and equal houses use different boundaries. Read the selected method and the MC's actual degree.
