Sources and licence
This is the source release for the Qizheng public preview dated 17 September 2026. It combines modern astronomical calculations with traditional rules adapted from Moira. Extended features and full accuracy, interaction and export acceptance remain unfinished; this preview is not a complete Moira equivalent.
Commercial use is permitted under the licence
The covered Qizheng program and adapted interface use GPL-3.0-or-later. Commercial operation, charging for services, modification and redistribution are permitted under its terms. Preserve copyright, licence and modification notices, and provide the corresponding source when required. The licence does not give third-party data a new licence.
Public preview source
The current archive contains the corresponding Qizheng calculator and interface source, traditional rules, the two reviewed numerical star tables, licences and an independently buildable frontend. It retains the unfinished acceptance status. Planetary and Earth-orientation binaries are obtained separately and checked against fixed hashes.

Historical basic source
The original basic release remains available unchanged. Its calculator dates from 12 September 2026; this preserved source archive was updated on 16 September. It covers eleven points, solar events, life and self positions, and basic period rules. Use the preview archive for the current mansion, calendar, shensha, pattern and interface additions.

| Part | Source | Terms and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Rules, labels and adapted interface | At Home Projects / Moira; Sky Degrees | Moira GPL-2.0-or-later rules, explanations and display rules are adapted under GPL-3.0-or-later. Original SVG construction and new composition retain their own authorship. Copyright and modification notices are preserved. |
| Astronomical software | Skyfield, jplephem, NumPy, ERFA and others | The dependencies retain their MIT, BSD and other applicable notices. No legacy Swiss or Moira runtime is used. |
| Mean-apogee inclination | SDSS / Adrian Price-Whelan | The BSD source notice is retained for the nominal inclination; the lunar arguments and geometry are independently composed. |
| Planetary ephemeris | NASA / JPL DE440 | The complete unmodified kernel follows NAIF use rules. Scientific data binaries are not included in the public source download. |
| Earth orientation | IERS snapshot | A fixed, attributed snapshot supports calculation. It is not relicensed as GPL or redistributed in the public source download. |
| Mansion and enclosure reference stars | Hoffleit & Warren; NASA HEASARC BSC5P | The preview includes only two independently structured numerical subsets covering 54 distinct objects. The commercial factual-reuse assessment is limited to those necessary facts, with source attribution and territorial, third-party and database-right qualifications. It is not a worldwide open licence for the whole catalogue. Traditional mappings and authored schema retain their GPL notices; factual measurements are not relicensed as newly authored GPL data. |
| City data and typography | GeoNames; site fonts and system fonts | GeoNames attribution follows CC BY 4.0; bundled site fonts retain OFL notices. No original Moira font or chart image is bundled. |
Calculation boundaries
The preview calculates dynamic mansion boundaries, calendar and four-pillar fields, traditional labels and patterns, and natal and reference-time positions. Extended modes and complete acceptance remain unfinished. Small differences from the designated Moira configuration can change a classification near a boundary; neither full equivalence nor an error bound for every supported date is claimed.
The stellar angular model preserves missing measurements and does not invent distances. Purple Qi is a traditional mathematical point; lunar nodes and mean apogee are defined models. These are not all physical bodies. Calculated positions and traditional interpretation do not establish the accuracy of astrological predictions.
Running the source
Follow the selected archive’s README to prepare Python, the frontend and the exact ephemeris and IERS snapshots. The installer verifies fixed hashes. A rolling data URL may no longer serve that historical snapshot; different data are rejected rather than silently substituted. The preview includes source-download preparation and deterministic archive rebuilding tools. The historical archive’s original scope and notices remain unchanged.
