Define what a foundation needs to support
Home may mean a physical place, a dependable arrangement or a small set of relationships. Begin with what you actually have rather than an ideal household assumed by the interpretation. Ask which conditions allow you to rest, prepare, make decisions or keep something important from being lost in a demanding schedule.
Choose one corner of your private life that you can influence. It might be a shared calendar, a place for unfinished work or a quiet period before leaving home. State what the arrangement is meant to support and change one practical detail. Evaluate the result through use, not through whether it looks like a perfect home.
You can inherit a story without accepting every role in it
Family traditions and familiar expectations may supply meaning, but they can also describe circumstances that no longer exist. Separate what you know happened from what people say it means. A fourth-house Sun reflection can ask which part you choose to continue and which part needs a new agreement.
Write one inherited expectation in ordinary language, then add your own reason for keeping, revising or leaving it. You do not need to make the entire family agree before understanding your position. At the same time, the chart cannot establish motives, prove a hidden event or replace a conversation with the people involved.
Keep the IC visible as a separate angle
The fourth house is angular in house classification, but its cusp is not the IC in every system. Whole sign and equal houses follow their own boundaries. A Sun in the fourth is therefore not automatically close to the IC; compare the actual longitudes before describing an angular conjunction.
Calculate with the recorded local time, historical time zone and birthplace. The fourth house is not automatically Cancer, and a Sun here does not acquire the Moon's rulership or sign dignities. If a plausible time range changes the house, preserve that uncertainty rather than selecting a family narrative to settle it.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE
Synthetic chart example: Sun in the 4th house
Use the invented chart input 2001-02-03 at 23:21 UTC in Greenwich, UK (51.4779° N, 0° E), with the Tropical zodiac and Alcabitius houses. No real person or life story is attached to this example. The coordinates were actually calculated with Skyfield 1.55 and JPL DE440; they are geocentric positions for this specified moment.
The calculation places Sun at 15°12′ Aquarius (315.205725° zodiac longitude) in House 4. Its Alcabitius interval starts at 2°11′ Aquarius (302.182558°) and ends at the House 5 cusp, 28°17′ Aquarius (328.283516°). The unrounded longitude lies inside that interval and is 13.023° from the nearer boundary. Rounded display labels do not decide the house.
Keep the same time, coordinates and zodiac, then change only the house system: Whole sign places Sun in House 5; Equal house places it in House 4. The planet's longitude stays the same in all three calculations. This comparison shows why a house number must retain its house-system label. The true Ascendant is 24°14′ Libra, and the true Midheaven is 2°11′ Leo; those angles remain distinct from a system's numbered cusps.

Schools differ in their parental assignments. State the tradition if using one, but do not treat the placement as evidence about either parent's character, presence or relationship with you. Those facts come from life and records.
Can a fourth-house Sun still value public work?
Yes. A house placement does not prescribe a single priority or occupation. Private foundations can support public commitments, and the wider chart contains other factors. Actual choices need not conform to a narrow domestic stereotype.

Birth time and place affect angles and houses. Unsupported or ambiguous inputs return an error rather than an invented chart. Personal results stay in browser state and do not create public result URLs.
