What this calculator tells you
Your Jupiter sign is the sign containing Jupiter’s geocentric longitude at birth. Jupiter moves more slowly through the zodiac than the Moon, but a year label is not a complete calculation, especially around sign changes. Enter the birth record to inspect the actual degree and house.
Why a birth year is not enough near an ingress
Jupiter spends long periods in a sign, so many people born near one another share it. The boundary dates still matter. Apparent retrograde motion can also carry a planet back across a boundary; a simple one-sign-per-year lookup can hide that pattern.
This page calculates the submitted instant. Daily ephemeris lets you compare sampled positions across a month, but neither page searches the exact ingress time. A table row at noon is a sample, not a claim that a sign change happened then.
Your chart provides more context than a shared sign
A shared Jupiter sign does not mean identical charts. The degree, houses and relationships to the faster bodies can differ. House placement requires the birth time and place, even when Jupiter’s sign stays the same over many nearby dates.
Traditional interpretation associates Jupiter with growth, judgement and opportunities. A computed position does not guarantee prosperity or successful investments. The calculator presents the measurements so that symbolic language remains distinct from factual evidence.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE
Jupiter in the fixed Greenwich example
The stored Greenwich example places Jupiter at 25°15′ Aries in House 1, close in zodiac position to its Aries Ascendant. Its house follows the chart’s Alcabitius boundaries; another house system should be checked explicitly rather than assumed to preserve every placement.
This preserved, fictional example uses 1 January 2000, 12:00 UTC, Greenwich (51.4779° N, 0°), tropical zodiac and Alcabitius houses. Its stored source is Swiss Ephemeris 2.10.03. New calculations use Skyfield + JPL DE440; the historical example is not relabelled as a new calculation.

Do people born in the same year have the same Jupiter sign?
Often many do, but not necessarily everyone. Sign crossings and retrograde returns across a boundary can occur within a calendar year. Calculate the exact date and instant.
Does this calculate my Jupiter return?
No. A Jupiter return requires finding when transiting Jupiter reaches the natal longitude. This page calculates the natal position and does not perform that event-time search.
Why is birth time requested for a slow planet?
The same calculation supplies a precise instant and house placement. The house depends on time and place even when the sign is unchanged over the whole birth date.

Worked arithmetic and geometry examples are labelled separately. Astrological meanings are symbolic conventions, not established scientific predictions.
Birth time and place affect angles and houses. Unsupported or ambiguous inputs return an error rather than an invented chart. Personal results stay in browser state and do not create public result URLs.
