The final degree is still inside the sign
29°15′ Leo is in Leo, not partly in Virgo. The next sign starts only at the actual boundary. Astrology uses signs as defined intervals; being near an edge does not mathematically blend two intervals.
A displayed 29° can cover almost a full degree if minutes have been omitted. 29°01′ and 29°59′ are not equally close to a change of sign. Compare full precision before interpreting how near the position is to the boundary.
Be precise about the tradition
In modern popular usage, anaretic often names the final degree. Older astrological uses of related terminology are not interchangeable with every modern claim about 29°. A reading should identify the convention being used rather than presenting one universal doctrine.
Words such as completion, pressure or transition can be prompts for reflection. They do not establish a timetable, prove an outcome or tell you that something is wrong. A chart placement alone cannot diagnose health, relationship stability or future success.
A natal position and a transit answer different questions
A natal position records a birth moment. A transit position records another specified instant. Neither tells you the exact future boundary-crossing time merely by being close to 30°: speed varies and a retrograde planet moves in the opposite direction.
Use Current sky to see motion and the actual timestamp, and the ephemeris to compare dated samples. Treat an exact ingress time as a separate calculation; this site does not infer one from a daily table.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLE
Worked example: late Pisces across the zero point
29°30′ Pisces equals 330° + 29.5° = 359.5° longitude. 0°30′ Aries equals 0.5°. Their shortest separation is 1°, not 359°. The zodiac is a circle, so the measurement wraps at 360°.
These are invented coordinate values for explaining the arithmetic, not a transit prediction. Try 359.5 and 0.5 in the converter, then compare the motion and dates of real ephemeris samples separately.

Is 29° always bad?
No. Astronomical longitude has no built-in good or bad quality. Any evaluation comes from an interpretive system and should not be treated as a guaranteed outcome.
Is anaretic the same as critical degrees?
Not necessarily. Different writers use critical degrees for different sets of positions. Ask which convention and source a reading follows.
